With the election entering its final stretch the campaign behind Initiative 502, which would legalize, tax and regulate marijuana for adults in Washington State, just started airing two new TV ads. The two ads are simple and direct.
The ads hit on the three main selling points for why marijuana prohibition should end: 1) prohibition has failed to stop people from using marijuana, 2) it enriches criminals, and 3) legalization would free up government resources for better uses.
The target demographics for the ad appear to be primarily older voters, which tend to be the least supportive of marijuana reform. Younger voters are already expected to support the initiative by significant margins.
The most recent polling has I-502 winning 57 percent yes to 33 percent no. If the ads help to simply maintain most of the initiative’s current support, it should win approval this November.

I guess my only issue with the WA and CO is the point they fail to make is that there is no reason for it to even be illegal. There is nothing “bad” about pot. Both seem to simply be focusing on “the money is better spent elsewhere”. The arguements they use could be said of any number of “crimes”. Really could just change the word Marijuana for prostititution and its the same logic
