Unfortunately, sometimes our commitment to working both sides of the aisle to accomplish serious marijuana reform can make us unpopular among partisan hacks and prohibitionists.
For the past few months, Firedoglake has been the focus of ‘Denial of Service’ attacks on our website that are causing the site to crash, driving up our tech bills and putting our work in serious jeopardy.
Just Say Now is not afraid to call out Democrats for failing to support reform and we’re not afraid to work with Republicans when they recognize our drug laws waste resources. We care about one thing: ending the war on drugs and promoting the sensible regulation of marijuana.
Thanks to the support of readers like you, Just Say Now has mobilized tens of thousands of people to help pass the first-ever legalization laws in America. Your donations allow us stay independent and online so we can continue to fight for more sensible drug policies.
The past four years we’ve worked hard to bring you marijuana policy news, analysis and activism that you won’t see anywhere else. We’ve worked with numerous local campaigns to organize support for desperately-needed reforms. Since Just Say Now’s founding we’ve fought alongside others to:
- Bring the number of states with medical marijuana programs to 22
- Push a bill through the House to end federal crackdowns on medical marijuana
- Successfully challenge Facebook’s censorship of marijuana
- Make Portland, Maine the first East Coast city to legalize marijuana
- End prohibition in Colorado and Washington
We have big plans for the upcoming year: fighting for a comprehensive medical marijuana program in New York state, supporting legalization campaigns in Washington D.C. and Alaska and working to reform our unjust mandatory minimum sentencing laws. But we won’t be able to do any of this without your support.
Thank you so much for all you’ve done and all you continue to do.
